Description

The 2015 High School Counselor Workshop will provide high school guidance counselors and college access professionals with 2015-16 Federal and State regulations and guidelines pertaining to student financial aid application procedures and programs. The training will include various topics to provide resources and information pertaining to the change from ACT to SAT, effective and innovative strategies for promoting financial aid, understanding college costs and college options, and the impact of educational financial resources and encouraging a college-going culture in Michigan. This free training is sponsored by the Michigan Department of Treasury-Student Financial Services Bureau in partnership with the Michigan Student Financial Aid Association and will be hosted at 36 locations across the State of Michigan. We hope you will consider taking advantage of this opportunity to learn more about student financial aid programs. As in the past, we are seeking approval for this Workshop to meet the requirements for State Continuing Education Clock Hours (SCECH) via partnership with Grand Valley State University.

MI Student Aid, locateded within the Michigan Department of Treasury, is comprised for three division areas: 529 Programs (MET/MESP), Student Scholarships and Grants (SSG), and Student Loan Repayment Programs.  We encourage students to pursue postsecondary education by providing equality of access to student financial resources and information.  Through the administration of various student financial assistance programs, students receive the guidance and funding necessary to pursue their educational goals.
